This is a great way to get your bikes to your favorite destination without installing a roof rack on top of our vehicle or maybe getting a hitch installed and buying a hitch mounted bike rack. Saris Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2014 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Hey everyone. Today, we have a 2014 Volkswagen Passat, and we're going to do a test fit of the Saris Bones EX 3 bike rack. Now this bike rack mounts to the trunk of your vehicle, it allows you to get three of your bikes transported to and from your destination.A benefit of having a trunk mounted rack is that you're not going to have to worry about investing in a hitch mounted rack and if you don't even have a hitch yet, then you have to invest in the hitch as well, or even a roof rack, plus a bike rack to be able to get your bike from point A to point B.With the bike, it's attached at three different points, we're going to have two straps on our top tube right here, securing it into the cradles and we're also going to have an anti-sway cradle securing the seat post too, just taking out a lot of the unnecessary movement. You see, it's still moving a little bit right there, but not near as much as it would without this strap. It's going to help prevent a lot of bike to vehicle contact and bike to bike contact.Now let's go ahead and take the bike off. It's going to be pretty easy to do. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Subaru Outback we're going to be doing a test-fit on the Hollywood racks over the top two bike carrier. And that part number is HRF2. This bike rack is specifically designed for vehicles that have these spoilers at the top of their hatch so that it can prevent any type of damage from occurring.As you can see the connection points for straps from the bike rack to the top of the hatch isn't adding on any extra weight or pull onto the spoilers, which is going to help protect it from any type of damage. Seeing our bike installed right here we're going to see it secured at three different points of contact.We have two straps on the top of our frame and we have this anti-sway strap securing it into this cradle. Once that's secured, that's going to prevent the bike from swaying too much while we're traveling and prevent the bike from making contact with the rear of our vehicle or with the other bike we could have installed.Let's go ahead and remove it. I'm going to just remove these straps like that. more

Hollywood Racks Express Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2017 Hyundai Elantra- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Hyundai Elantra we're going to be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Rack's Express Three Bike Carrier, part number HRE3.Now this is a very economical bike rack and what I mean by that is that if you're just looking for a bike rack to get you from point A to point B with your bikes this is going to be great for you. However, if you're more of an avid cyclist, I would suggest maybe doing a little bit more research and trying to find a bike rack with a little bit more bells and whistles.Let's go into the bike rack itself, we see we have cradles that can pivot left and right, and that can also move up and down the rack to accommodate any spacing between bikes you might want. We have two different points of contact where our bike is secured. We have these nice rubber straps that are securing the top frame of our bike into the cradles. I do want to point out because we don't have any type of anti-sway or anti-rattle cradle in place, our bike can move freely when we're driving and with it sitting pretty close to the vehicle, so you do want to be aware that it could make contact like this pedal right here is pretty close to our license plate, and we also have our front wheel up here that's pretty close to making contact. However, to fix this problem you could purchase a wheel shock separately at etrailer.com and just secure the front wheel to that.Let's go ahead and remove the bike. more

As you can see, we have one bike loaded up already to show how bikes sit on the rack. We have two arms that are gonna support our bikes, and we have two cradles, one per arm. That's gonna give us two points of contact on our cross bar and one point of contact on our vertical bar here. That's gonna prevent the bikes from swaying, making contact with each other or our vehicle.To remove the bikes, we're going to pull off the soft rubber straps here that are going to prevent any sort of damage to our bike frame. more

Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2013 Mazda CX-5- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2013 Mazda CX-5, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima HalfBack Two Bike Rack and that's going to be part number Y02636.As you can see, we do already have a bike installed so we can go ahead and take a look at some of the features.Starting from the outside and working our way in, we're going to see on both sides we do have these bottle openers. If we look at the cradles, we're going to see this nice rubber TPE padding. Now, what that's going to do is the TPE padding is going to act as a shock absorber for the frame of our bike during travel and it's going to protect it from any type of scratches or abrasions.These cradles are stationary, meaning they don't move side to side, or up and down the bike rack.If we look at our bike, we're going to see it secured at three different points of contact. We're going to have these two ZipStrips on the top of our bike frame securing them into the cradles. If we come down here, we're going to see this anti-rattle cradle. Now, when the ZipStrip is securing the frame of our bike into the anti-rattle cradle, that's going to prevent our bike from swaying too much during travel, preventing any vehicle to bike contact, or bike to bike contact if you have two installed.Up here, we're going to see this strap we have securing the front wheel of our bike to the frame of our bike. more

As you can see, we do already have a bike installed, so we can go ahead and take a look at some of these features.Now, if we start from the back side and work our way in, we're going to see this nice integrated cable lock system, so when you have a bike installed on the second rack, you simply pull this out. You can wrap it around the frame of your bike, and this little notch right here simply inserts right there. You will get a set of keys with your bike rack for when you want to unlock the cable. You simply just insert your key in there, unlock it, and then you can unload your bikes.Over here, we're going to see the Yakima bottle openers as on all of their bike racks. Speaker 1: Today, on our 2012 Nissan Versa, we're going to be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Rack, part number HRE3. As you can see, we already have a bike installed, so let's take a look at some of the features before we take it off. Each cradle, as you can see, can pivot from side to side and can move back and forth, in order to accommodate to your specific bike frame needs and the spacing on your bikes should you have it fully loaded. The bike itself is secured from two different points of contact. You can see the these rubber straps we have that simply come off and fasten pretty easily around the notch right there, and secures your bike very well.We have a stabilization strap included for when you are carrying a full load. You simply pull it around, wrap it around all three bikes, and fasten it down, in order to keep your bikes compact for travel. more

Next to that is the difference here, we have an integrated cable lock, which will pull out, wrap around the outermost bike, and attach to this point here. So you can secure your bikes into place once that's secured at this point because if this is secured here, you can't pull the most inner bike out and of course neither of those can be removed.Moving onto the cradles, these are stationary, meaning they can't move back and forth or side to side. more

As you can see, we already have a bike installed, so let's take a look at some of the features.These cradles can pivot left and right, and back and forth, with a little bit of force up and down on the bike rack to provide any type of spacing needs you might have between your bikes, or between your vehicle and bike. Our bike is connected to two different points of contact. We have these rubber straps that are coming around and simply latching onto this little notch right there. The bike rack also does come with a stabilization strap, so when all three bikes are loaded, simply just undo the strap, wrap it around your bikes, and come back to the strap and up and through it. more
